April Showers Bring May Flowers

Spring in Lancaster County feels less like a season and more like a gentle awakening—one that you can see, hear, and even smell as it unfolds across the countryside. After a long winter, the landscape begins to stretch and soften, trading muted grays and browns for vibrant greens, budding orchards, and fields being turned for planting.

For us, spring arrives in layers. First, it’s the longer light—morning sun spilling a little earlier through the windows, evening golden hour lingering just a bit longer. Birds returning, the rustle of breeze through new leaves, and the quiet rhythm of life picking back up again.

Not far from the house, roadside stands begin to reopen, offering early-season treasures—fresh eggs, homemade baked goods, and the first hints of produce to come. Local farmers are out in their fields, and if you take a slow drive through the back roads, you’ll witness the timeless cadence that makes this area so special.

Spring is also “mud sale” season—a uniquely Lancaster tradition where communities gather for lively auctions filled with everything from antiques to handmade quilts. These events are as much about connection as they are about discovery, offering a glimpse into the heritage and hospitality that define the region.

Back at the inn, the season brings its own quiet magic. Our chickens grow a little more energetic with the warmth of the sun, guests linger a bit longer over coffee, and the house itself seems to come alive again after winter’s rest. Windows open, fresh air moves through the rooms, and every stay feels touched by that sense of renewal.

It’s a time for simple pleasures—morning walks with a light jacket, coffee enjoyed outside for the first time in months, and evenings that invite you to slow down and stay just a little longer.

Spring doesn’t rush here. It unfolds gently, beautifully, and in its own time.

And there’s truly no better place to experience it than right here.
